Description
Summary:The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of cybercrime on the economy of Azerbaijan and to assess the international legal mechanisms for combating these threats. This paper highlights the economic impact of cybercrime, in particular on GDP, business operations, financial security and foreign direct investment (in the Azerbaijani context). Utilising historical, comparative, and policy analysis methodologies, this study examines Azerbaijan's strategies (including national cybersecurity investments and international co-operation) within the context of global best practices. The findings of the study suggest that robust legal frameworks and targeted cybersecurity initiatives are essential to mitigate financial losses from cybercrime, protect business continuity, and foster a secure climate for economic growth and investment. The study emphasises the necessity of incorporating economic factors into cybersecurity policy and underscores the importance of international collaboration and adherence to global conventions, such as the Budapest Convention, in enhancing Azerbaijan's economic resilience to cyber threats.
