Description
Summary:The aim of this study is to offer an understanding of the importance of games and laughter in the analysis and development of work activities. The ideas will be based on an examination of aspects of play as they emerged in the course of an ergonomic study carried out among a group of industrial assembly workers. The first part sets out background information and reviews the theoretical importance of laughter and play in both human and research activities. In the second part, the play and laughter that surfaced during the study are used as a template for examining the behaviour of workers both in the workplace and in the situations under analysis. Finally, the importance of play and laughter is considered on three levels in terms of ergonomic procedures : data collection, building relationships for the study and the development of workers’ activities.
