| Summary: | The physical public space is crucial for life in cities. However, their unequal distribution across the territory has contributed to the urban space becomes more segregated, resulting in damages for the full sustainable development of daily activities. This article presents the results of a quantitative and distributive analysis of public spaces in Curitiba City in order to contribute to the measuring of urban quality of life. From preliminary conceptualization and specific methodology, it is used official data to build a spatial investigation that shows the relevance of different types of public spaces in shaping this urban reality. Therefore, by adopting the "Public Space Coefficient" as a first approximation method, it is presented a spatial indicator with potential to establish comparative studies and thus provide mechanisms for a better understanding of contemporary city public domain characteristics. |
