What are the similarities and differences between the fonctions of the conductor of an ensemble working with historical instruments and that of a « classical » conductor? In short, what is the conducting of ensemble music earlier than the advent of the romantic orchestra made of? In order to shed some light on the subject, I interviewed Gaëtan Naulleau, musical critic, and Nicolas Bartholomée, sound engineer, who are both apt to bring an informed and critical perspective on the conducting practices at stake here. |
