Summary:Nehemiah was in exile and served as a cupbearer to King Artaxerxes l of Persia. He exercised leadership skills on behalf of his nation; and as a leader, he did not hesitate to take action that would benefit his people. He necessitated rebuilding of the Jerusalem walls as well as the city. He is portrayed in the book that bears his name, as an exemplary leader whose leadership attributes are worth emulating. This article is intended to probe into Nehemiah’s leadership and how it was relevant towards rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls and the administration of the entire nation of Judah. Contribution: The article looks at the definition of a leader, leadership qualities, leadership skills, and Nehemiah’s attributes. The article aims to see if Nehemiah fulfilled the definition of leadership and evaluate which qualities and skills he had.
