description Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that requires one’s ability to adjust to a problem. Wives of veterans are considered indirect victims of war, and the chronic nature of PTSD negatively affects their adjustment to their life conditions. Meanwhile, religious beliefs are essential in people’s adjustment to problems and crises. Therefore, it is possible to use religious coping methods to increase the adjustment of veterans' wives. Thus, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between religious coping and adjustment in the spouses of veterans with PTSD. This descriptive correlational study was conducted in 2019 on 412 spouses of veterans with PTSD living in the city of Isfahan, Iran. Data collection tools in this study included the Pargament religious coping questionnaire and the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS). The data was analyzed using SPSS-16 software, using descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson's correlation coefficient and linear regression). The results showed a significant relationship between the religious coping strategy and the adjustment of veterans' wives, so with the increase of religious coping strategies, the adjustment of veterans' wives also increased. Therefore, religious beliefs can be used as a defensive mechanism to improve the compatibility and quality of life of couples dealing with PTSD.
