description Research about the link between foreign language teacher classroom practices and teacher frames of thinking are based on various corpuses. Some are constituted from recording of interactions in the classroom, others are made from teacher discourses after courses, with the stimulated recall technique, as it is used in "work analysis". Other corpuses still are about teachers’ global representations and their "teacher’s action" interpretations (e.g. Cambra Gine, 2009). The question of compatibility, complementary and, when necessary, organization of these kinds of data, asks epistemological questions which were research issues in Idap (research group about didactics interactions and teachers’ actions), for many years (Rivière & Cadet 2009, 2011; Bigot & Cadet, 2011). When we collected new data, it seemed that we also had to ask the question of corpuses’ use. This article review shared some postulates and questions for debate concerning foundations and use of corpuses in our research field. We shall try to show that the notion of ethics – revisited in works in educational sciences (Bergier, 2000; Chaussecourte, Blanchard-Laville & Gavarini, 2006) which distinguish the ethics of framing (constitution of the corpuses), the ethics of research (processing of the corpuses), the ethics of reporting (reporting a speech to the actors) – is a heuristic notion which the didactics of foreign languages could benefit from using.
