Summary:Abstract The problem of research and development capability and value creation in businesses has always been a serious issue for firms, particularly manufacturing SMES in Lagos. The purpose of this research is to investigate the research and development capability and value creation of selected manufacturing SMEs in Lagos. This research made use of descriptive and empirical statistics as well as questionnaire surveys in examining whether research and development capability affects the value creation of selected small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in Lagos, Nigeria. The study population was 10 selected Manufacturing SMEs in Lagos State, with a sample size of 200 selected Manufacturing SMEs staff in Lagos State. The study revealed that research and development capability has a significant positive effect on the value creation of selected manufacturing SMEs in Lagos, Nigeria. Lastly, the study recommends that selected manufacturing SMES in Lagos should implement R and D capability in their production process.
