Summary:It was objectified to identify the knowledge produced and published in the Brazilian nursing on arterial Hypertension and diabetes mellitus of 1995-1999. The research was developed with articles of five national newspapers, submitted to the exploratory, selective and analytic reading. That production had as authors, in a order, educational and masters degree students. The identified theoretical-methodological tendencies were: in the arterial hypertension, clinical studies and you consider, with adults or professionals of health, the technique of verification of the arterial pressure, without use of nursing theories. In diabetes mellitus, prevailed clinical studies, with the thematic life quality and theoretical models, tends adult clientele and without using theories. It is ended that exists need of researching in nursing in those areas, especially with other clienteles.
