Description
Summary:Everywhere in the world, urban farming is characterized by its extreme diversity as well as important contrasts between the South and the North. This article firstly identifies the elements to be taken into account to describe the wide range of activities that could be considered as “urban farming”. While in the South the feeding function is undeniable, in the North, it has more often to do with new ways of « living in the city ». In all cases however, pointing out the multifunctionality of urban farming should not conceal the main aim of the peasant question to meet: to meet the needs of humanity for food.
