| Summary: | Contemporary Messianic Judaism is a recently established religious movement that broke free from the tutelage of Protestant Christianity at the dawn of the 20th century in the United States. Claiming to belong to an ancient tradition, that of the first disciples of Yeshua, he claims an identity which would give him full right to belong to Judaism, even though he proclaims one of the foundations of Christianity: the total messiahship of Jesus Christ. This article explores the modern and contemporary roots of the movement (16th-19th century) and the theological and cultural difficulties it encounters in France to establish itself as a religion in its own right. |
