Description
Summary:There is little known about a child’s homelessness experience in France. No research was done in France about stressors of school-aged children sheltered in low cost hotels payed for by governmental agency. This article describes the stressors experienced by homeless children living in low cost hotels. The data was collected from 30 school-aged (aged between 7,5 and 13 years old) children living with their families at hotel, through comprehensive interviews.Homeless experience is stressful for children: all children who participated in this research perceived at least one thing as stressful in their life. Beyond the stressors specific to school-aged children, the factors identified by the children involved in our research can be classified into one of three groups: stressors related to homelessness, stressors related to poverty and / or stressors related to migratory experience.
