Summary:Aside from the single market policy and monetary integration, the cohesion policy is nowadays one of the most vital aspects of EU’s operations. That policy, its projects and financial aims, are the key element of the European integration and the economic development of the European Community, member states, regions and local communities. Regional efforts and horizontal European funds concern pre-eminently the tasks associated with transformation and the development of the modern infrastructure. European funds hold the means for protective activities as well. Their application, in the first place, contributes to the growth of competitiveness among the countries, regions and municipalities, as well as the overall internal progress. These programmes contribute in a significant manner to the development of Polish municipalities and regions, including the municipality of Szczebrzeszyn.
