| Summary: | Among the loads of smart grid, the thermostatically controlled loads(TCLs) as the main adjustable load have a large percent, and reasonable guidance and control of them towards an orderly consumption play a key role in the stable operation and intelligent regulation of the power grid. This paper mainly discusses the modeling of TCLs and different kinds of ancillary services provided by the aggregated TCLs. The modeling of the single TCL and the aggregate TCLs are provided, which are always applied in the theoretical research and system simulation. The achievable architecture and framework are given for the applicable scenarios of such TCLs: decentralized frequency regulation service of TCLs based on frequency response; centralized secondary frequency service of TCLs based on load reduction; centralized load following service of TCLs based on the temperature set point control. The findings reveal that TCLs as a class of controllable loads in demand side can provide considerable reserve capacity for the stable operation of the power system. |
