description This article deals with the archaeological excavations carried out in 1881-1882 by Marcel and Jane Dieulafoy during their first trip to Persia and examines the respective accounts of each of the members of the couple. It highlights Jane’s emerging scientific fame, which she acquired through her involvement in the expedition, and shows how her husband benefited from it. The study of the texts, considering the social and discursive divisions of the time, nevertheless underlines a real exchange between the spouses and gives us the image of a rich and constructive intertextuality, motivated by genuine collaboration.
