| Summary: | Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRDs) may onset in patients over 65 years old, and some of them are absent in younger subjects. As the over-65-year-old population is growing, IRD prevalence is consequently increasing. As for today, incorporating a comprehensive assessment in IRD management is rare, contrary to what happens in other areas of medicine. This brief communication stresses the main reasons why the Italian geriatrician should grow their interest in IRDs.
