Description
Summary:The paper deals with the results of 2023 research carried out at the Tipsirmy ancient settlement, located on the northern outskirts of Cheboksary. Here, excavations identified objects representing numerous post-holes and the remains of structures with wattle-and-daub constгuctions. The pottery assemblage of the settlement is represented by two groups of hand-made pottery - fabric with an admixture of grog and clay with an admixture of crushed shells. Objects related to weaving (spindle-whorls, cargo-hangers) and non-ferrous metallurgy (crucibles) were found in the settlement. In addition, finds related to iron metallurgy were discovered in large numbers at the Tipsirmy settlement: charcoal, slags, bloom, minerals containing iron, stone tools. A number of household items find analogues in monuments of the Piseraly-Andreevka type. The resulting collection of archaeological objects suggests that the main occupation of the population of the settlement was ferrous metallurgy.
