description Background. Identifying the structural and grammatical features of the adjectival phraseological units both in Russian and English is significant in regard to exploring the peculiarities of the linguistic system and the national-cultural context of the languages under study, which makes it possible to further study the peculiarities concerning the use and functioning of phraseological units and paroemias. Purpose. To identify the structural and grammatical features of the adjectival phraseological units in the Russian and English languages. Materials and methods. The descriptive method was applied based both on the results of the analysis and synthesis over the theoretical material as well as the method of contextual analysis of the practical materials presented in the paper, namely adjectival phraseological units obtained by the method of random selection. Results. As a result of the structural and grammatical peculiarities analysis of the Russian and English paroemias under study we can conclude that the existing differences in their expression are connected first of all with the fact that the most important in the syntactic typology of languages relation 'subject - action - object' is expressed in the languages under study in different ways, due to the peculiarities of the syntactic structure of each language, which is a special relationship between the structural and semantic components of the sentence. From the perspective of the mode and means of expression the Russian language is inflective, and the English language is analytic. Despite some differences, the adjectival phraseological units in the languages under study have significant similarities in their structure and grammar, which can be explained by the common laws of the language organization and universality of the logical categories behind its formation. Practical implications. The results of the presented work are relevant to the research concerning the peculiarities of adjectival phraseological units, as well as adjectives in Russian and English paroemias.
