Description
Summary:Urban spaces often serve as a refuge for queer communities, where many of us find belonging by meeting other queer people. However, many trans people also find wellbeing in nature. This led me to explore trans people’s experiences in outdoor physical activities. To do so, I developed an “on-the-move methodology”, which is based on a mix of methodological approaches from a feminist, queer and outdoor perspective. This post-qualitative methodology challenges research dichotomies, focusing on the interactions between bodies, emotions and the more-than-human. Transecologies emerge from the connections between the trans and the environment, decentring human experiences from the interview process. Here, I will present this methodological approach and two examples of transecological analysis.
