| Summary: | In this article, we aim to demonstrate the importance of evoking autobiographical memory in Gheorghe Grigurcu's poetry,
looking at how the poet's memory contributes to constructing meaning for the reader based on their own experience, helping
to form a textual world of maladjustment.
According to cognitive poetics, the reader creates his or her textual world as a result of reading a text. Aesthetic emotion,
combined with self-representations (one's view of the world, beliefs, aspirations, desires), paves the way for the reader's
understanding of the interaction between the creative self and its autobiographical memory. The totality of feelings, emotions,
experiences, and even traumas form the long-term memory known as autobiographical memory. Through the lens of cognitive
poetics, autobiographical memory is not just a socio-historical fact, but reflects how the poet's experiences are mentally
represented and how they are communicated to the reader through poetic language.
