description Most cases of foreign body ingestion occur in the pediatric population, with most patients remaining asymptomatic. However, when symptoms do manifest, they are nonspecific and varied, ranging from food refusal and vomiting to chest pain and fever. In some instances, surgical intervention to locate the foreign body may be required, presenting a significant therapeutic challenge. This study presents the case of a 9-year-old girl with symptoms of intestinal obstruction due to foreign body ingestion. The foreign body was initially identified on radiographic imaging; however, intraoperative exploration, including laparoscopy with conversion to laparotomy, did not reveal its presence. Subsequent follow-up radiographs also failed to detect the previously visualized foreign object. This publication aims to describe an unexpected diagnostic and therapeutic course.
