Description
Summary:[Objective] To investigate the effect of empowerment guidance on readiness for discharge and self-management ability in elderly patients at high risk of falls. [Methods] A total of 80 elderly patients with high risk of falls admitted to the Geriatrics Department of the First Hospital of Jilin University from March to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects and divided into the conventional group and the empowerment group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group.Routine falls prevention health education was given to the conventional group, and empowerment guidance was given to the empowerment group. The scores of Discharge Readiness Scale and Adult Health Self-management Ability Scale were compared between the two groups. Results After the intervention, the empowerment group was significantly higher than the conventional group in the discharge readiness scores and self-management ability scores, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). [Conclusion] Empowerment guidance can improve elderly patients with high risk of falls knowledge about falls, enhance self-management awareness and ability, explore their potential, rely on internal driving force to manage physical health, so as to improve patients' discharge readiness and self-management ability.
