Quite apart from the close relations that Jose Monino entertained with respected exponents of Spanish Enlightenment, his reforming zeal and his firm regalist convictions, his determination to control the circulation of ideas and even to promote certain views is a fact that is borne out by numerous of his acts and decisions.
