| Summary: | This paper takes as its point of departure the opposition between psychoanalysis and historiography that has modelled and in large part divided the history of psychoanalysis. Many authors argue that the historical contextualisation of psychoanalysis deploys a critical force by relating its theories and techniques to other (social, economic and cultural) realities. However, such approches risk to reduce or to miss the specificity of their object. As potential alternatives, we discuss the work of C. Ginzburg, J. Forrester and A. Davidson, who have suggested situating Freudian psychoanalysis in an epistemology of the human sciences. We take up some of their interrogations so as to put forward a vision of contextualisation combining a sociology of the psychoanalytical movement and an anthropology of epistemic and therapeutic approaches and practices. In other words, the article aims to articulate what we term a “collective history” and a “concrete history” of psychoanalysis. |
