Description
Summary:The relationship between high humidity hot environment in summer and body temperature of growing pigs in east China was studied using an animal physiological parameters on-line telemetry system (DSI) and automatic animal environment detecting system. The effect of environmental temperature-humidity index (THI) on body temperature of pigs was highly significant (P=0.0001). It was shown that THI fully reflected the suitability of the environment in pig house, especially in its capability of thermoregulation of the pigs living there. The results also showed that pigs would suffer from heat stress (when body temperature rose beyond its normal level) when THI was higher than 28.
