His itinerary is all the more intriguing since he was able - through a thorough work of biographical reconstruction - to escape the anathema that struck the French far-right after 1945. Subsequently, he was able to impose the image of a worldly and respectable reactionary, a true notable of Parisian letters, allowing him to constitute a discreet bridge between a rebuilding intellectual extreme right and the general conservative public, as evidenced in particular by the undeniable success of his most famous work, La Révolution française (1928). |
