description |
Foundation: burnout syndrome is a disorder as a response to chronic stress that is becoming more and more frequent in workers, mainly in professionals in the health sector.
Objective: to determine the burnout syndrome presence in rotating nursing interns.
Methods: descriptive and cross-sectional study carried out at Luis Gabriel Dávila Hospital, Tulcán, Ecuador, from January to March 2022. The 80 rotating nursing interns were part of the research. A questionnaire composed of several questions was applied; some of them correspond to the Maslach Burnout Inventory. The following studied variables were: emotional exhaustion, fatigue due to work, tiredness when completing daily tasks, stress from working with patients, effectiveness in solving patient problems, wear due to work, and the work impact on emotions.
Results: half of the surveyed said they always felt emotionally exhausted, 54% said they felt tired when completing daily tasks. 46% stated that they always feel exhausted at the end of their work. Most expressed feeling stress from caring for patients. More than a sixth of the respondents always deal effectively with patients' problems. 69% always present wear as a result of the activities they carry out at work and 35% stated that the work repercussion does not affect their emotions.
Conclusions: it is necessary to look for alternatives that promote preventive strategies that allow finding a healthy balance between work and mental health.
|
