| Summary: | Ulnar dimelia is an uncommon congenital anomaly of the hand. An absent thumb, multiple digits, and duplication of the forearm bones characterize it. Here, we have reported a case of a 2-year-old male child who presented to the hand surgery outpatient department of Sri Ramachandra Medical Center, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, with ulnar dimelia of the left hand. On examination, he had six well-developed digits and one short digit on the radial end without a thumb. He had a radial deviation of the wrist. Radiological examination revealed seven metacarpals, six triphalangeal digits, and one biphalangeal digit on the radial-most side. No other musculoskeletal abnormalities were noted. The management is aimed at creating a functional and esthetically better-looking hand. The radial-most two digits were disarticulated, and the third digit from the radial side was used for pollicization. Postoperative follow-up showed excellent outcomes regarding function and esthetic appearance. |
