Changes of available Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu contents among different layers of non-flooded paddy soils with ground mulching

| Summary: | The change in amount of available Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu in various layers (from depth of 0 to 60 cm) of non-flooded paddy soil with ground mulching were studied. Compared with conventional flooded soil, non-flooded film mulching slightly reduced the amount of available Fe in the 0-10 cm layer of the soil, increased it in the 10-20 cm layer and had almost no effect in the 20-60 cm layer. The technique increased the amount of available Zn in the 0-15 cm soil layer and reduced the amount of available Mn in the 0-15 cm layer, but did not affect the available Cu content. Compared with dryland soil, non-flooded film mulching increased the amount of available Fe in the 0-20 cm layer and available Zn in the 0-15 cm layer of the soil and reduced the amount of available Mn in the 0-5 cm soil layer, but the amount of available Cu in the 0-60 cm soil layer was almost unaffected. |
