Description
Summary:The Information and Guidance Centers (CIO) in France are regularly called into question, particularly regarding their continued existence at the national level. Historically, their role has evolved based on three functions: public (guidance policies), functional (management of school-related information), and opportunistic (adaptations to emerging needs). With digitalization and the increasing autonomy of schools, their missions have gradually disappeared. The decline in the number of CIOs and their staff weakens their sustainability. However, they still play a role in support and mediation, notably due to their external position relative to schools, which could justify their continued existence.
