| Summary: | This paper analyses letters written by women to Ménie Grégoire who was a famous french radio presenter from 1967 to 1981 on RTL radio channel. The hypothesis is that these writings constitute an unprecedented photograph of perceptions of mass social housing. These letters form a rich expression, both individual and collective because women demonstrate a competence to question the public authorities. These letters are in a continuum with the mailings addressed to the urban authorities, the social landlord, the deputy, the mayor. This corpus reveals ‘ordinary protests’ about the city in the 1960s and 1970s far from the militant register. By reporting their experience, the women also want to contribute their share of knowledge about the new constructions. They engage in a kind of survey and inventory of housing to enlighten Ménie Grégoire, and through her, to reach out and touch the urban authorities |
