Twenty-one out of the 32 species collected are singletons, indicating that many species on Mount Kinabalu are rare and of low abundance or collected during the wrong season. Hence, an annotated and illustrated checklist of the Orthoptera of this region is presented with notes on their taxonomy and, where data are available, on their natural history. With extended sampling, it is expected that more species will be discovered than in this preliminary checklist. |
