Summary:[Objective] Due to the influence of the leading pantograph in double pantographs operation, the current collection performance of the trailing pantograph often degrades. It is necessary to study the dynamic interaction of the PC (pantograph-catenary) system when double pantographs are mixed. [Method] A finite element model of catenary and a lumped mass model of pantograph are established. Firstly, during operation the effect of the pantograph′s parameters on the average uplift of the contact wires at the rear locations is analyzed; then based on this, the effect of the leading pantograph′s parameters on the trailing pantograph dynamics is analyzed; and finally it is extended to the analysis of the PC dynamics performance in the case of mixed double pantographs. [Result & Conclusion] The uplift amplitude caused by different pantographs is varied. The better the performance of the pantograph, the lower the uplift amplitude. By comparing the 9 parameters of the pantograph lumped mass model, it is found that the damping between the lower frame and the bottom frame c3 has a significant influence on the uplift amplitude. Therefore, adjusting the value of c3 can effectively improve the current collection quality of pantograph and thus reduce the fluctuation amplitude of contact line uplift. When two different pantographs are in mixed operation, if the dynamic performance of the leading pantograph is better, the current collection quality of trailing pantograph will also be better; if the dynamic performance of leading pantograph is poor, the fluctuation amplitude of the average contact line uplift amount at each position behind the leading pantograph can be reduced by adjusting the value of c3, thereby optimizing dynamics performance of the trailing pantograph.
