description For several years, U.S. labor in the private sector has undergone an obvious decline. In addition to employers' organizations, various states' and federal legislations have been responsible for this decline. This article describes U.S. labor current situation and the different offensives from legislations.Since several years now American labor unions have fallen into decline. American unions are weaker now and the process doesn’t seem to stop. Like in many European countries, private-sector workers are the most affected by this decline. This situation has generated a variety of interpretations: neoliberalism, globalization, economic relocations, etc…Today organized labor must face the hostility of conservative politicians (Republicans as well as Democrats) and lobbies. This article explores recent developments affecting unions’ rights that led to a significant loss of power. The article describes Supreme Court decisions, laws and the role of anti-union lobbies. These examples reveal how the decline of American labor may have reached a point of no return.
