| Summary: | In the vast production of Euripides’ criticism, now open to new perspectives, there is still not a study that would break away completely from the concept of Euripides’ tragedy as a slow path to decline. For these reasons this article tries to study one of his last works, Orestes, to show how the text is connected to the most authoritative conception of tragedy as a genre that evolves but retains its general characteristics. Orestes appears deeply rooted in tradition, even if it is imbued with the climate of the end of the Peloponnesian war, one of the longest and bloodiest of antiquity. |
