Material and methods
International data related to legal and illegal migration are analysed. The latest legal acts related to the migration phenomenon are also indicated. Using the author's questionnaire, surveys were conducted on the perception of the migration phenomenon and its impact on security in both Poland and the EU.
Results
All the answers obtained in the survey, we can definitely conclude that the respondents are against the admission of migrants to the territory not only of Poland, but also of the European Union countries. The survey also shows that it is not only illegal migration that causes concern among the respondents, but such concerns also arise from the phenomenon of legal migration within the European Union countries. On the other hand, it is satisfactory that the vast majority of respondents are of the opinion that migrants will be able to successfully integrate socially and culturally.
Conclusions
The migration phenomenon is a complex problem. However, we assume that it will increase in the future due to a number of factors, including the search for new workers due to the shrinking European population, the desire of non-European migrants to improve their quality of life, natural hazards necessitating relocation or inter-state conflicts. It is therefore important that the functional levels (social, economic, cultural) of a community made up of natives and migrants do not create unnecessary risks. Migration arouses a number of primarily negative emotions in EU countries - especially with regard to non-EU migrants. This is why it is so important to develop a common position and legal regulations that will allow EU countries to act more effectively towards migrants. |
