| description | It is a known fact that Aristotle is a towering figure in ancient Greek philosophy, whose impact and influence can be perceived across the centuries, made significant and lasting contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, botany, ethics, politics, agriculture, medicine, dance and theatre. His significance of thoughts is still alive vigorously, his contribution towards literature in form of his two treatises i.e. Rhetoric and "POETICS". "POETICS" is the earliest surviving work of dramatic theory and the first extant philosophical treatise to focus on literary theory. In the 4th century BC Aristotle wrote the Poetics, a typology and description of literary forms with many specific criticisms of contemporary works of art. That is why by selection of this topic I tried to explore the introduction of Arabic Schools in Criticism in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In this context I have given a brief account of these schools, and the work of Aristotle,s Poetics was the most important influence upon literary criticism. |
