| description | This article examines the interdisciplinarity of research project applicants as a potential vector of credibility. Interdisciplinarity is observed at the biographical level as a series of disciplinary mobilities which take place with acquiring funding over the course of a career. These mobilities are more or less frequent, more or less long-term, and they involve disciplines that are more or less similar in terms of practices and values. They form trajectories that we examine from the point of view of the resources for research they give access to. The article is based on the study of the disciplinary mobilities of all applicants (n=15881) who obtained at least two research projects from the Swiss National Science Foundation between 1976 and 2020. The use of network, sequence and multiple correspondence analyses provide a comprehensive perspective on the social contexts, notably disciplinary and temporal, which favor or not the recognition of interdisciplinarity by the public funding agencies. |
