| Summary: | The authors analyse the available sources of information related to forest fires in the Russian Federation and confront the official statistics by the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) and data from the other sources. The structural changes in the distribution of the overall quantity of forest fires by their causes are investigated. The article contains the proposals to include additional indicators based on the undertaken analysis in the Federal Plan of Statistical Activities (FPSR); such indicators should allow acquiring more detailed and reliable information about the processes related to fire protection of forests in the Russian Federation. |
