description | Terahertz (THz) radiation offers nondestructive, nonionizing treatment for medical conditions like tumors and dental diseases. With recent technological advances, it shows promise in accurate imaging, diagnosis, and treatment, especially in oral and dental oncology. Its potential in oral health care is vast and groundbreaking. In the field of oral medicine and oncology, oral lesions present a significant challenge in diagnosis and treatment. Common types of lesions include fibromas, mucoceles, periodontal cysts, dentigerous cysts, root cysts, and osteonecrosis of the jaws. Conventional treatments for these lesions often involve invasive procedures with potential side effects. However, the use of THz waves as a diagnostic and treatment approach shows promise in providing safer and more effective solutions. By leveraging the unique properties of THz photons and developing advanced amplification techniques, THz waves can target specific lesions with precision, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. Continued research and technological advancements in this area have the potential to revolutionize the management of oral lesions and tumors. Utilizing THz radiation for lesion therapy, we can target lesions with precision based on their unique dissociation energy. This approach minimizes harm to surrounding tissues, making it a safer alternative to ionizing radiation like X-rays. The nonionizing nature of THz radiation reduces the risk of side effects such as cell damage and cancer development. Further research is needed to fully understand the effectiveness and safety of THz therapy for various tumors. Safety precautions, proper training, and ethical considerations are essential when working with THz radiation. By approaching this technology with caution and ethical awareness, we can maximize its benefits while ensuring safety and responsible use. |
