Description
Summary:The relevance of the research is defined by the necessity to establish the parameters of a person’s ethnic identification and self-identification. It is motivated by the need to solve political, ethnological, and sociological problems that have emerged recently, such as the formation of national identity, cultural identity, and personality behavioral stereotypes. It is important to detect the role of language in this process, since language is the main marker of all types of ethnic identity combined into an ethnic personality profile. The study is aimed at characterizing the Russian language influence on ethnic personality profiles of Russian linguistic ethnos representatives. The material consists of documents and scientific studies reflecting current trends in using the Russian language in the Russian Federation and in the world. The aim was achieved through methods of sociolinguistic analysis, in particular, the method of analysis of written sources and the method of stratificational classification. The three-part (linguistic ethnos, social ethnos, and political ethnos) ethnic profile structure has been established. The ethnic structure, adjusted to personality bilateral attribution, ethnic and subethnic, is defined. Subethnic elements of all components in the ethnic profile are identified. Ethnic statuses of literary language, territorial, social and national modifications of language, national language, state language and native language are established. The difference between Russian and superordinate languages with their national versions, is described. For example, English language has British, American and other national versions. United Russian linguistic ethnos and united Russian social ethnos have been confirmed, although they are associated with different political ethnicities. The author stated that the main factor of an ethnic personality profile is language and assumed that it is possible to construct a typology of ethnic profiles based on the formulaic conjugation of linguistic-ethnic, socio-ethnic and political-ethnic personality characteristics.
