Description
Summary:The work aimed to study the color properties of poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) modified with various contents of poly(butylene succinate) (PBS). The PBT/PBS fibers were successfully prepared using a melt-spinning process. The PEO-g-MA, 2 wt%, was used as a coupling agent. A disperse dye: blue dye was applied as a dyeing material for PBT/PBS fibers. The fibers were dyed at the temperature of 98 °C (using the classic process for PBT fibers). The morphology, mechanical properties, thermal properties, crystal structure, and dyeability were also investigated. The fiber dyeing results are explored in CIELAB (position data of color coordinates L*, a*, b*) color systems. The results show the relationship between the dyeability of PBT/PBS fibers and the contents of PBS in the polymer matrix. The SEM image of the fiber of PBT100 and PBT:PBS blend after dyeing shows that the color dyeing on the fiber increased with PBS contents, supporting the result from spectroscopy.
