description The article approaches the representation of the communist subject, its symbolic universe, normative values and reference frames from the content keys present in two unpublished personal diaries, written by José González Prieto and Justo Rodríguez Suana. The article analyzes, initially, questions about the presence of the autobiography in the communist culture. In addition, the article studies the insertion of the personal diary into the historiographical interpretation of Stalinism. The second part of the article analyzes the personal diaries of González Prieto and Rodríguez Suana. These were written in 1939 and 1942-43, when their authors shared a vital parallel experience as members of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE), and as exiles who arrived in the USSR after the Spanish Civil War. This analysis reflects on the symbolic marks present in both texts, on the elements that determine the character of their authors as communist subjects, and on the relations of diaries with other practices of the communist ego-document.
