| Summary: | The purpose of the study is to publicize the experience of a separate library in creating its own digital collection, which reflects the history of its development; it raises the issue of solving the problem of preserving digital content, as well as the archiving mechanism on the university repository platform for digital accessibility. The research methodology applies the chronological method of analyzing the collected material, which is based on the events reproduced in the digital collection. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the application of established practices and recommendations for creating the library’s own digital local history photo collection, which reproduces the period of development of the Scientific Library of Uzhhorod National University from 1945 to 2024. Conclusions. As a result of the research, the experience of creating the library’s own local history digital photo collection was published. It recreates the period of development of the Scientific Library from 1945 to 2024, with an emphasis on recommendations for applied digitization methods developed by leading archival institutions of Ukraine. The focus is placed on the search options of the university’s electronic repository as a reliable archival environment for the preservation and publication of photos as historical artifacts of the library. Guided by the main goal of creating a photo archive for its preservation and dissemination, the university library chose an effective method of publishing archival photos of the collected materials, which became the institutional repository of Uzhhorod National University. |
