description The present paper is a stylistic analysis of an extract of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables for educational purposes in teaching French as a foreign language (F.F.L). Our goal is to demonstrate that the methodological principle of linking the study of language with the study of literature, promotes the acquisition of both oral and written skills. For this purpose, we opted for the teaching/learning of adjectives as a grammatical category, a descriptive literary text (le portrait de Jean Valjean à son arrivée à Digne), and a method based on various methodologies: active methodology, communicative approach and task-based approach.
