Summary:Abstract Background and aims Intra-abdominal complex disorders pose significant challenges to clinicians due to their intricate nature and diagnostic uncertainties. This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of percutaneous endoscopy in the management of such conditions. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 37 patients diagnosed with intra-abdominal complex disorders who underwent percutaneous endoscopic examination and treatment at Mianyang 404 Hospital in Sichuan, China, between January 2016 and October 2024. The primary outcome was technical success. Secondary outcomes included clinical success, operation duration, length of postoperative hospital stay, adverse events, and medical costs. Results All 37 patients successfully completed the percutaneous endoscopic procedure. Clinical success, with accurate diagnosis, was achieved in 34 cases (91.9%). Among these patients, 16 cases were peritoneal tuberculosis, 11 cases were intestinal adhesions (9 of which underwent endoscopic adhesiolysis and showed symptom alleviation during follow - up, with complete resolution in all cases), and 7 cases were malignant peritoneal tumors. The median procedure time was 50 min (ranging from 40 to 79 min), and the median length of postoperative hospital stay was 7 days (ranging from 5 to 12.5 days). No cases of postoperative bleeding, perforation, or organ injury were observed. The median medical cost during the entire hospitalization was 1528 USD (ranging from 1236 to 1806 USD). Conclusions Percutaneous endoscopy is a safe and effective diagnostic tool for intra-abdominal complex disorders, offering high diagnostic accuracy and minimal complications. This technique represents a valuable and promising option for clinical application.
