Description
Summary:Activities to protect the reproductive health of the population are one of the priority areas of social work. In modern medical and social work, a gender-sensitive approach is being actualised, which shows that gender is one of the leading factors in reproductive health issues. The purpose of the publication: to analyse the problem of preserving the reproductive health of women and men in the context of gender-sensitive social work. Objectives: to highlight the gender aspects of social work in the field of reproductive health. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, generalisation of scientific literature on gender and reproductive health. It is believed that reproductive health problems affect only women whose bodies are under heavy stress during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period and suffer from various diseases (anaemia, toxicosis, breast cancer, malignant tumours of the reproductive organs, postpartum psychosis, sepsis, kidney inflammation, complications after induced abortion, maternal mortality). Reproductive health problems also affect men who suffer from prostatitis and infertility. The causes are stress, overwork, hard work, lack of vitamins, unhealthy lifestyle, bad habits (alcohol, drugs, tobacco), and diseases of the reproductive organs. It is important to take into account the gender aspects of social work in the field of reproductive health, which are intertwined with socio-cultural and economic factors, gender roles, and respect for the reproductive rights of men and women. Great importance is attached to family planning, early and late motherhood/parenthood, the formation of reproductive attitudes, relevant knowledge and life skills, and access to complete and accurate information on reproduction. Lack of awareness of the value of reproductive health and the factors that influence it often leads to risky reproductive behaviour and its consequences.
