description The aim of this study is to evaluate the awareness of science – technology – engineering – mathematics (STEM) education teachers of science, mathematics and information technologies’ in secondary schools with different variables. This research is structured with a survey model in which a quantitative data instrument was used to explore awareness of teachers for STEM education. In this study, the convenience / incidental sampling method among non-random sampling methods was adopted. The sample of the study consisted of 118 science, mathematics and information technologies teachers working in secondary schools in the center of Karaman. The ‘STEM Awareness Scale’ developed by Buyruk and Korkmaz (2016) was used as the data collection tool in this study. The validity and reliability studies were performed again after the scale was applied to the participants. No significant correlation was found between gender, education type and workplace variables and each dimension of the scale that consists of two sub-dimensions, which are positive and negative STEM awareness. However, there were significant differences between type of the graduated faculty, professional seniority variables and the two dimensions of the scale. While there was a significant difference between the teachers who graduated from the education faculty and positive STEM awareness, negative STEM awareness was observed among the teachers with higher professional seniority.
