Summary:The endemic African genus <i>Epipleuria</i> Fürsch is re-described, diagnosed and confronted with African species of the closely related genus <i>Rhyzobius</i> Stephens. The validity of the genus <i>Epipleuria</i> is confirmed. Two new species, <i>Epipleuria capensis</i><b> sp. nov.</b> and <i>Epipleuria tsitsikamma </i><b>sp. nov.</b>, from the Republic of South Africa are described. Additionally, the male genitalia of <i>Epipleuria natalensis</i> Fürsch, 2001, are described and illustrated for the first time. <i>Epipleuria endroedyi</i> Fürsch, 2001; <i>Epipleuria mahnerti</i> Fürsch, 2001; and <i>Rhyzobius stillatus</i> Fürsch, 1992, are transferred to the newly established genus <i>Pseudoepipleuria</i> <b>gen. nov</b>.
