Description
Summary:With the institutionalization and development of biomedical technologies surrounding pregnancy and childbirth care, many “recommendations” based on risk prevention have been imposed upon women and the healthcare professionals who accompany them. Midwives who practice global accompaniment position themselves against the trend of standardized perinatal management. Their critical look on the hospital system and the iatrogenic effects of medicalization has led them to respond to women who seek to re-appropriate childbirth. Midwives participate more widely in a dynamic of sanitary democratization to bring their experience and that of women back to the heart of a reflection on the efficiency of prevention techniques and risk management.
